Whisper Against the Current Darkness & the Rest to Come
Brailling the keyboard at quarter to four in the morning doing my best to harness the light letter by letter. Wasn’t a bad day the day before, what with the orange tanker, Atlantic Jupiter out of Hong Kong, evidence of sea spray all along it’s hull, sprawled out across the bay. But that light’s pure memory in pitch darkness. Letter by letter, light & memory, all I’ve got in late-night solitude, apart from digital numbers on the clock, offhand reminders of mortality. The dream I woke from had images of black limousine, smoke, & small talk on cell phones. Premonitory, at best. This minor speech act, mere whisper against the current darkness & the rest to come. Fingertips getting the light down. For now, at least, pulse, breath, better.
